Carbin Named Store Manager
Butler, PA, August 25, 2003 - Carole F. Bitter, President and CEO of Friedman's Supermarkets and Butler BiLo Foods announced today Raymond Carbin has been promoted to Store Manager of Friedman's Mercer Road Supermarket. He replaces Dan Kriebel who resigned to manage East Brady Riverside. In his new position, Mr. Carbin will be responsible for operation of the Friedman's Mercer Road Supermarket, Route 8 north of Butler at Mercer Road. Ray Carbin brings a wealth of experience to the new position. He started working at Friedman's Saxonburg Supermarket in 1978, while still attending Knoch High School. In 1980, he helped open Friedman's Wayne Street Supermarket in the "Island" area of Butler. When Friedman's opened a store in the North Hills of Pittsburgh at Duncan Manor in 1982, Ray was there to help open that store. He was transferred back to the Saxonburg Store in 1984. In 1991, Mr. Carbin was promoted to the position of Co-Manager of Friedman's Saxonburg Supermarket. He remained at that store until his promotion to Manager of Friedman's Mercer Road Supermarket. In his 25 years with Friedman's Ray Carbin has been tutored by five different managers. He has taken a number of management training courses and seminars. He has excelled in every task assigned to him. Ray Carbin believes in shopping only at locally owned and operated stores so that the money he spends stays in the local area, creating and maintaining jobs. He believes that Friedman's is competitively-priced, while at the same time keeping the money in the area, not some other state or foreign country.
